Meta is developing a new AI tool, internally called Project Luna, that aims to summarise a user’s Facebook feed plus external sources into a personalised “morning brief” — essentially positioning itself as a rival to ChatGPT and targeting convenience and daily-use rather than stand-alone chat. According to internal documents, the idea is to neatly package your social alerts and updates into one digest delivered when you wake up. Meta plans to pilot it with a small test group in New York and San Francisco, and though it’s initially focused on Facebook, expansion to apps like Instagram or Threads is possible. While Meta already offers AI features across its apps and hardware, those have been met with mixed reception; this move reflects a shift toward creating more genuinely useful, integrated AI experiences that leverage the company’s social-network strength.
