Malwarebytes uncovered a large scam campaign called FriendlyDealer that uses more than 1,500 fake websites made to look like the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, tricking people into thinking they are installing real gambling apps. Instead of downloading a normal app, users install a web app that looks legitimate, can send notifications, tracks activity, and then pushes them to casino sites through affiliate links. The operation does not focus on stealing passwords or planting classic malware, but on making money when victims sign up or deposit funds on those gambling platforms. The piece also explains that the kit is highly reusable, tailored to different phones and browsers, and may come from a Russian-speaking development context. Its main warning is that this kind of scam causes financial harm by abusing trust in official app store interfaces and funneling people toward unregulated gambling sites.
